Position Overview:
This position works with Iowa Donor Network and hospital partners to manage the medical evaluation and coordination of organ, eye, and tissue donation opportunities. Evaluation and coordination is managed both remotely and onsite at the donor hospital. Daily activities include: Collaboration with donor hospital staff and physicians via phone and in-person. Communication with medical examiners and other essential stakeholders. Daily onsite rounds with physicians and staff at donor hospitals. Immediate onsite response to Level I referrals across the state. Immediate onsite response to brain death testing.

Job Qualifications:
- Associate degree in nursing or allied health science or equivalent experience required. Licensed RN, Paramedic or RRT preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting or hospital preferred.

Schedule: 9-11; 24-hour call shifts/month
Hours: 8am- 8am CST
*holidays and weekends required

Compensation:
Starting at $61,800
*Iowa Donor Network determines final compensation based on education, experience, and skills relevant to the position.

Organization Responsibilities:
Essential Functions and Performance Responsibilities:
- Provide referral response to hospitals on potential organ donors, including onsite response per IDN protocols.
- Collaborate with hospital staff over the phone and in person to evaluate potential organ donors utilizing information from medical records, medical history, and current health status.
- Collaborate with hospital staff over the phone and in person to ensure the donation opportunity is maintained.
- Support hospital partners onsite during the brain death testing process.
- Ensure effective verbal and written communication and collaboration with hospital staff, physicians, related donation agencies, and other Iowa Donor Network team members to maximize organ donation.
- Provide the IDN Organ Resource Supervisor with a thorough chart review for donor suitability determination and medical management.
- Demonstrate competency in essential job functions.
- Record and submit referral and case data for process improvement analysis and industry reporting.
- Participate in process improvement and quality assurance activities.

Physical Requirements:
- Duties of the position require travel or onsite response to execute essential job functions required in the facilitation of the donation process.
- Maintain a current valid driver’s license and be insurable through IDN’s insurance.
- Respond to notification within 10 minutes and arrive to office/hospital within one hour of call as appropriate.
- Routinely travel to the office and donor hospitals through the State of Iowa at any given hour of the day or night. This travel may occur under various weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Maintain availability for communication 24/7/365.
- Must receive required vaccines based on outlined schedules to protect our employees, healthcare personnel, donors, recipients, and families we may come into contact. (e.g., Influenza obtained annually by December 1st.)
